Interview with Lina (25), moved from Norway to the Netherlands
About how something as small as water can make such a difference to your skin and hair
Tell me, where are you from?
I grew up in Norway, in a small town on the coast. My father had to go there for work, and we went with him as a family. Everything there was fresh and clean, including the water. I never thought about it; it just took for granted that my skin felt soft and my hair shined without me having to do much.
When did you start noticing a difference?
When I moved to the Netherlands for my studies, I initially thought I was just getting used to my new surroundings. After a few weeks, my skin started feeling tight after showering, especially on my arms and legs. My hair became dull, frizzy, and heavy all at once. Even my scalp felt sensitive, something I'd never experienced before. I tried different shampoos, masks, and body lotions, but nothing really helped.
What did you think then?
I found it frustrating. I felt like I was doing something wrong, even though my routine always worked perfectly. It wasn't until a friend told me the water in the Netherlands was much harder that I began to understand what was going on. I didn't even know water could be "hard" or "soft."
What did you discover when you looked it up?
That the water in Norway is actually very soft. It contains far fewer minerals like calcium and magnesium, and hardly any chlorine. Here in the Netherlands, it's the exact opposite. These substances can dry out your skin and make your hair dull. Suddenly, I understood why I felt so different after showering.
How did you end up at Klense?
I saw a TikTok video from someone who had the exact same problem. She showed how she'd installed the Klense shower filter in her shower and that it had significantly calmed her skin. I was intrigued. So I ordered one, just to try it out. Installation was incredibly easy. The filter was on my hand shower in just a few minutes.
And what did you notice afterward?
Honestly, I noticed a difference after just a few days. My skin felt less tight, and I no longer needed to apply moisturizer immediately after showering. After a week, I noticed my hair was softer and less likely to get oily. My scalp was also calmer. It felt like my skin was back in balance.
How does showering feel now?
Much more pleasant. The water literally feels softer, as if it glides more easily over my skin. I now really look forward to my morning shower. It might sound strange, but it feels more like a moisturizing treatment than something that dries my skin out.
What would you recommend to other people who are experiencing the same thing?
Pay attention to your water. Many people don't realize how much of a difference it can make. If your skin suddenly becomes dry or your hair doesn't fall the same anymore, it's not always the fault of your products. Sometimes it's the water itself. Klense really changed that for me.
